Looking To Exceed My Performance Easwaran After Historic Duleep Trophy Ton

"Looking to exceed my performance...": Easwaran after historic Duleep Trophy ton

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) India opener Abhimanyu Easwaran is looking to better his stupendous performance in the ongoing Duleep Trophy when he turns out for India A in the upcoming unofficial Tests against New Zealand A.

Riding on Easwaran's unbeaten 157 off 274 balls, India A defeated West Indies A by 53 runs in the second unofficial Test to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The 26-year-old Easwaran was adjudged the player of the match for his patient and gutsy knock at the Alur Cricket Stadium here. It was his third century in the competition, having scored a hundred in the quarterfinal against Jharkhand before slamming a double century in the semifinal against Jammu and Kashmir.

"Obviously it feels good to score a century and contribute to the team's victory. But for me it is just the start, and I am looking forward to the next match. Hopefully I can exceed my performance in that game," Easwaran said after the match.

Easwaran, who has played five Tests and three ODIs for India, said he was happy with his form but admitted that there is always room for improvement.

"I am happy with my form. But there is always scope for improvement. I am working on my game and looking to get better every day. I want to make the most of the opportunities I get and perform consistently for my team," he said.

Easwaran will be hoping to continue his good form in the unofficial Tests against New Zealand A, which will be played from September 25 to October 2 in Bengaluru.

The three-match series will be a good opportunity for Easwaran to stake his claim for a place in the Indian Test team. Head coach Rahul Dravid has already hinted that Easwaran is in the reckoning for a Test call-up.
